Terms of sale and licence
Last updated 2026-10-14
These terms cover buying and using Scalpel, the desktop software sold at scalpeltrade.com by QUITE RIGHT LIMITED, a company registered in the United Kingdom (company number [to add], registered office [to add]). "We" means QUITE RIGHT LIMITED. "You" means the person buying or using Scalpel.
The licence
When you buy Scalpel you get a lifetime, personal, non-transferable licence to install and use it on up to two machines at a time, for your own trading. You can free a machine from your account page and activate another, within the limits shown there.
You may not resell, share, rent or sublicense Scalpel or your licence key, or try to get around the licence check. We may revoke a licence that is shared or used in breach of these terms.
"Lifetime" means for as long as we offer Scalpel, and includes the updates we release. If we ever stop offering Scalpel, we will make reasonable efforts to give licence holders a final version that runs without our licence server.
Price and payment
Scalpel costs $299 (US dollars) per licence, paid once. VAT or sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Immediate access and refunds
At checkout you ask for immediate access to the download and acknowledge that, under UK consumer law, this ends your 14-day right to cancel a digital content purchase. On top of that, we offer a voluntary 7-day refund guarantee: see the refund policy. A refunded licence is revoked.
What Scalpel is and is not
Scalpel is order entry, charting and information software. It is not investment advice, a recommendation, a signal service or an automated trading system. You decide every trade. Read the risk disclosure before using LIVE mode.
Scalpel connects to your own Interactive Brokers account through TWS or IB Gateway. You need your own IBKR account and market data subscriptions. We are not affiliated with Interactive Brokers, and we are not responsible for their services, data, fees or outages.
Orders and stops
In LIVE mode, Scalpel places real orders in your IBKR account when you press its keys or buttons. You are responsible for every order placed through your account.
Scalpel's working stop, catastrophe net and take-profit are monitored by the app on your computer. They are not resting orders at your broker and only work while Scalpel is running and connected. Fills are not guaranteed, and fast or thin markets can fill far from the level you set.
The licence check
Scalpel checks your licence with our server when it starts and works offline for a limited period if the server can't be reached. We store a hashed identifier for each activated machine, never your raw hardware identifiers. See the privacy policy.
No warranty
Scalpel is provided as is. We work to keep it reliable, but we do not promise it will be error free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose, and nothing in it guarantees any trading result.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not liable for trading losses, lost profits, or indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Scalpel, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.
Referral program
If you join the referral program, you earn the commission shown on your referrals page for purchases made through your link, paid through Stripe after the holding period. Self-referrals earn nothing. Commissions on refunded or disputed orders are cancelled or clawed back. We may suspend referrers who spam, mislead buyers or bid on our brand name.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applied when you bought your licence governs that purchase.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of [to confirm: England and Wales, or Scotland, depending on where the company is registered], and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the law where you live.
